Edmond Halley's Greatest Discoveries

COSMIC MESSAGE
Edmond Halley, born in 1656, made many discoveries. In 1705, he computed that a bright comet was periodic and would return in 1758; this comet is now known as Halley's Comet. He also proposed diving bells for deep-sea exploration and pioneered our understanding of trade winds, tides, cartography, and naval navigation. Halley died in 1742 and never saw his comet prediction come true.
