NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

Triton, Neptune's largest moon, was discovered by William Lassell in 1846. This image was taken in 1989 by the Voyager 2 spacecraft, the only probe to visit Neptune. Triton is a cold, icy world with a thin atmosphere and geysers that erupt nitrogen gas. Its orbit is retrograde, moving opposite to Neptune's rotation.
