The Martian Spring Credit:

As spring arrives in the northern latitudes of Mars, increased solar heating causes temperature differences. These can generate winds and dust storms, like the one seen in these Hubble Space Telescope images from September 1996. The image on the left shows the Martian polar cap at the top, with a dust storm about 600 kilometers across visible along its southern border.
