COSMIC MESSAGE

The Horsehead Nebula, also known as Barnard 33, lies 1500 light-years away. This dark dust cloud is shaped like a horse's head because it absorbs light from the bright red emission nebula behind it. While it is thought to be a region where low-mass stars form, the reason for such large-scale shapes in the universe is often not well understood.
