COSMIC MESSAGE
The Sun constantly streams particles into space at hundreds of kilometers per second. This outflow, known as the solar wind, forms the solar corona and extends into interstellar space. Some of these particles reach Earth, causing aurora. This false-color image, taken by the Large Angle and Spectrometric Coronagraph, shows the Sun's active outer atmosphere.
