Vega is a bright blue star, twenty-five light years away, and the fifth brightest star in our night sky. It is the brightest star in the Summer Triangle, easily visible in Northern Hemisphere summer evenings. Thousands of years ago, Vega was sometimes known as 'Ma'at.' Fourteen thousand years ago, it was our North Star, not Polaris.
