COSMIC MESSAGE
The Small Magellanic Cloud (SMC) is an irregular galaxy orbiting our Milky Way. It is about 250,000 light years away and contains many young, hot, blue stars. This suggests a recent period of star formation, possibly due to a collision with the Large Magellanic Cloud 500 million years ago.
