HH1/HH2: Star Jets

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

When a star is born, it blasts out high-speed jets of material along its axis of rotation. This Hubble Space Telescope image shows two bright nebulosities, Herbig-Haro objects HH1 and HH2, at the ends of these opposing jets. They are formed as the jets collide with the surrounding interstellar gas and dust.
