The United States at Night

From space, the United States at night looks like a tangled web of light. This image is a composite of over 200 scans from the USAF Defense Meteorological Satellite Program (DMSP) Operational Linescan System. These satellites monitor weather, but also capture the glow of cities. You can trace the major population centers and even some highways, all illuminated against the dark land.
