Orion is a vast star-forming region, stretching over 100 light-years and appearing 50 times the diameter of the Moon. It includes familiar objects like the Horsehead Nebula and the Orion Nebula. At 1,500 light-years, Orion is the closest large star-forming region to Earth. It contains young stars and protoplanetary disks.
