COSMIC MESSAGE
Asteroids are rocky bodies that orbit the Sun. This image shows asteroid 1997 XF11, which was initially predicted to pass very close to Earth in 2028. New estimates, based on additional observations by SpaceWatch astronomer Jim Scotti, place its closest approach beyond the Moon's orbit. No asteroid is currently known to be on a collision course with Earth.
