COSMIC MESSAGE

Last month, the Moon's shadow touched Earth, causing a total solar eclipse. This image captures the moment the Moon's umbra, its dark central shadow, crossed over land. The path of totality, where the eclipse was total, raced across South America and the Caribbean islands at nearly 1,200 miles per hour. Totality lasted about three minutes or less at any given location.
