Water in Orion

NASA APOD · Anglo-Australian Telescope Board
COSMIC MESSAGE

The Orion Nebula, M42, is a vast star-forming region where astronomers have confirmed the presence of water molecules. Though mostly hydrogen, the nebula's immense size means even a small production rate creates vast amounts of water. Scientists estimate enough water to fill Earth's oceans 60 times over daily. This discovery highlights the prevalence of water in the cosmos.
