A Planet For Gliese 876

COSMIC MESSAGE

Centered in this patch of sky in Aquarius is the star Gliese 876. It is smaller than the Sun, only about one-third as massive, and too faint to be seen without a telescope. Gliese 876 is one of the nearest stars, only 15 light-years distant. Astronomers have announced findings that imply it has a planet at least 1.6 times as massive as Jupiter, making this one of the closest suspected planetary systems.
