Spiral galaxy NGC 1232 was captured in detail by the Very Large Telescope. It is dominated by millions of bright stars and dark dust, caught in a gravitational swirl of spiral arms. Open clusters of bright blue stars are sprinkled along these arms, while dark lanes of dense interstellar dust lie between them.
