The Cat's Eye Nebula
NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE
The Cat's Eye Nebula, three thousand light years away, is a dying star shedding shells of glowing gas. The Hubble Space Telescope reveals it as one of the most complex planetary nebulae known. Astronomers suspect the bright central object might be a binary star system. The term 'planetary nebula' is misleading, as these objects are not planets.
