Cepheus 1: Nearby Galaxy Hiding

Cepheus 1 is a recently discovered galaxy, hidden behind the dust and bright foreground stars of our Milky Way. It was initially detected in radio waves by the Dwingeloo radio telescope. Optical photographs later revealed Cepheus 1 as a dim, low-surface-brightness galaxy, making it difficult to find despite its relative proximity.
