Pegasus dSph: Little Galaxy of the Local Group
NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE
The Pegasus dwarf spheroidal galaxy, or Peg dSph, is a small, newly recognized member of the Local Group of Galaxies. It is likely a satellite companion of the Andromeda galaxy, M31. This Keck telescope image reveals Peg dSph as a clump of fainter, bluer stars about 2,000 light-years across. It is almost hidden by the glare of brighter foreground stars in our own Milky Way.
