LDN 1622: Dark Nebula in Orion

COSMIC MESSAGE
Lynds' Dark Nebula 1622 is a dark nebula silhouetted against a faint background of glowing hydrogen gas. This region is near the plane of our Milky Way Galaxy, close to Barnard's Loop in Orion. A brighter reflection nebula, vdB 62, is visible just above the dark dust. Long telescopic exposures are needed to see the faint background glow.
