The Big Corona

COSMIC MESSAGE

Most photographs do not adequately portray the magnificence of the Sun's corona. Seeing it firsthand during a total solar eclipse is best, as the human eye can adapt to see features that photographic film usually cannot. This picture is a combination of twenty-two photographs, digitally processed to highlight faint features. The outer parts of the corona were digitally altered to enhance dim, outlying waves and filaments.
