Mars Weather Watch

Mars, despite being cold and dry, has dynamic weather. On June 30, 1999, the Mars Global Surveyor spacecraft's wide-angle cameras observed this large storm system over Mars' north polar area. These frames, recorded at two-hour intervals, show high winds mixing brownish dust clouds and white water-ice clouds. The curling storm front churns over the extreme northern regions of the planet.
