COSMIC MESSAGE

Io, Jupiter's innermost large moon, is the most volcanically active body in the Solar System. This true-color image, taken by the Galileo spacecraft, shows Io's surface, which is colored by sulfur and molten silicate rock. Jupiter's intense tidal forces flex Io, heating its interior and fueling its numerous volcanoes.
