COSMIC MESSAGE

Even a grain of cosmic sand can create a beautiful display when it enters Earth's atmosphere. This bright meteor trail, photographed from Joshua Tree National Park during the 1998 Leonid Meteor Shower, is perfectly framed between orange clouds at sunrise. Traveling at 70 kilometers per second, these small particles from Comet Tempel-Tuttle create a transient, awe-inspiring light show.
