COSMIC MESSAGE

Comet Hale-Bopp made its closest approach to Earth in 1997, a comet so bright it was visible to the naked eye for 18 months. The comet has two tails. One is made of dust, and the other, blue one, is made of ions. This image shows both tails streaming away from the comet.
