Swiss Cheese-Like Landscape on Mars

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

Parts of the south pole of Mars feature a landscape that looks like Swiss cheese. This little-understood terrain includes flat-topped mesas nearly 4 meters high and circular indentations over 100 meters across. This topography is unique to the Martian southern polar cap. Exogeologists speculate that the mesas might be rich in frozen carbon dioxide, or dry ice.
