The Hydra Cluster of Galaxies

COSMIC MESSAGE

The Hydra Cluster, also known as Abell 1060, contains over a hundred bright galaxies. Most of its mass, however, is thought to be dark matter, which we cannot see. Studies of X-ray light and gravitational lensing help astronomers understand the distribution of this unseen mass.
