NGC 2787 is a barred lenticular galaxy, a type of galaxy that has a disk like a spiral but little dust or gas. This image shows the galaxy in great detail. The central bar is clearly visible, as are the faint spiral arms. Lenticular galaxies are relatively little studied, but they can be both photogenic and scientifically interesting.
