Antennae Galaxies in Near-Infrared

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

When galaxies collide, they produce a jumble of star clusters, gas, and dust clouds. The Antennae Galaxies, NGC 4038 and NGC 4039, are one of the best studied examples of this process. They are only sixty million light-years away. This image, from the Wide-field InfraRed Camera, shows them in near-infrared light.
