Annular Eclipse: The Ring of Fire

NASA APOD · Dennis Mammana (Skyscapes)
COSMIC MESSAGE

An annular eclipse, sometimes called a "ring of fire," occurs when the Moon passes directly in front of the Sun but does not completely cover it. This leaves a bright ring of sunlight visible around the Moon's silhouette. This phenomenon was visible from a path across the Pacific Ocean.
