NASA APOD · Suprime-Cam
COSMIC MESSAGE

The Subaru Telescope captured this image of spiral galaxy NGC 4388, which is expelling a huge cloud of gas. The gas cloud extends over 100,000 light-years, a surprising find for astronomers. NGC 4388 is an active galaxy, meaning it has a very bright, energetic nucleus. This galaxy is about 60 million light-years away and is part of the Virgo Cluster, the closest major galaxy cluster to us.
