Inside the Eagle Nebula

NASA APOD · T. A. Rector
COSMIC MESSAGE

The Eagle Nebula, from a distance, resembles its namesake. Up close, it is a window into a star-forming region. Inside this cavity, pillars and globules of dust and cold gas remain, actively forming new stars. Young, bright blue stars are already visible, their light and winds shaping the surrounding material.
