A Deep Field In The Southern Sky

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

This deep view of the cosmos, known as the Hubble Deep Field South, is a sequel to the original Hubble Deep Field. The Hubble Space Telescope pointed at a patch of sky in the southern constellation Tucana for ten days. By accumulating many separate exposures, astronomers revealed progressively fainter galaxies. Both deep fields allowed astronomers to stare back about 12 billion years in time.
