NASA APOD · David Malin
COSMIC MESSAGE

Proxima Centauri is the closest star to our Sun, part of the Alpha Centauri triple star system. Light takes just over four years to reach us from this small red star. It is so faint that it was only discovered in 1915 and requires a telescope to see.
