COSMIC MESSAGE
This tiny ball, just over a tenth of a millimeter across, demonstrates the Casimir Effect. It moves toward a smooth plate due to energy fluctuations in the vacuum of empty space. The Casimir Effect, named after its discoverer, provides evidence for the existence of dark energy. Dark energy is thought to make up most of the universe's energy density and drives its accelerating expansion.
