COSMIC MESSAGE

A few days ago, several groups noticed a two-second burst of light on Jupiter. Such flashes have been seen before, with the most famous being a series of impacts in 1994 from Comet Shoemaker-Levy 9. Since then, at least seven impacts have been recorded on Jupiter, usually by amateur astronomers. The featured video shows variations in the flash's brightness.
