2001 Leonids: Meteors in Perspective

NASA APOD · Christophe Marlot
COSMIC MESSAGE

The 2001 Leonid meteor storm was so intense that the radiant, the point from which meteors appear to diverge, was easy to spot. These meteors are actually debris from Comet Tempel-Tuttle, traveling on parallel paths. Their apparent divergence is an effect of perspective. This image captures the radiant during the 2001 storm.
