NGC 6369: The Little Ghost Nebula

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

NGC 6369, also known as the Little Ghost Nebula, was discovered by William Herschel in the constellation Ophiuchus. This planetary nebula is formed when a sun-like star sheds its outer layers into space. The star's core then shrinks into a white dwarf, illuminating the expanding gas cloud. Despite the name, planetary nebulae have no relation to planets.
