GRO J1655-40: Evidence for a Spinning Black Hole
NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE
Black holes are usually invisible, but we can see the gas swirling into them. This black hole, GRO J1655-40, pulls gas from a companion star, heating it to millions of degrees. The gas flickers 450 times a second, a clue that this black hole is spinning. It is seven times the mass of our Sun, located in the constellation Scorpius.
