Neptune: Still Springtime After All These Years
NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE
Spring arrived in Neptune's southern hemisphere in the 1960s. Since Neptune takes 165 Earth-years to orbit the Sun, each of its seasons lasts over four decades, so it is still springtime there. Astronomers have observed Neptune getting brighter in recent years. This Hubble Space Telescope image from 2002 shows a dramatic increase compared to pictures from 1996.
