Snake in the Dark

COSMIC MESSAGE
Dark nebulae, visible as dark shapes against a field of stars, snake across the constellation Ophiuchus. The most prominent, an S-shape in the center, is known as the Snake Nebula, or Barnard 72. These aren't empty spaces, but dense clouds of gas and dust that block the light from stars behind them.
