COSMIC MESSAGE

The Sinus Iridum, or Bay of Rainbows, lies on the northwestern part of the Moon's near side, at the edge of the Sea of Rains. In this sketch, the Sun illuminates the arcing wall of the lava-floored bay from the left. Cape Heraclides, at the top of the sunlit arc, has been historically imagined as a moon maiden gazing sunward across the bay.
