Galileo's Europa

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

NASA's Galileo spacecraft, launched in 1989, ended its mission by plunging into Jupiter in September 2003. The spacecraft's components were vaporized in the gas giant's outer atmosphere. This image of Europa, one of Jupiter's moons, was captured by Galileo, providing tantalizing data about the possibility of an ocean beneath its icy crust.
