Rings and Seasons of Saturn

On Saturn, the appearance of its rings tells you the season. Saturn's rings orbit along the planet's equator. They appear most prominent from the direction of the Sun when Saturn's spin axis points toward the Sun. Conversely, during an equinox, when Saturn's spin axis points to the side, the edge-on rings are hard to see from both the Sun and Earth.
