A Landing at Meridiani Planum
NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE
After a journey of nearly 300 million miles, the Opportunity rover landed on Mars, cushioned by airbags. This is the first color view from its landing site at Meridiani Planum. The terrain is dark and undulating, unlike anything previously seen on Mars, and lies on the opposite side of the planet from its twin rover, Spirit.
