The Tarantula Nebula from Spitzer
NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE
The Tarantula Nebula, a star-forming region in the Large Magellanic Cloud, glows in infrared. This Spitzer Space Telescope image shows a tumultuous center, NGC 2070 or R136, home to many hot, young stars. Their energetic light ionizes the surrounding gas, and their particle winds blow bubbles, creating intricate filaments.
