Spiral galaxy NGC 1232 was captured in detail by one of the Very Large Telescopes. Millions of bright stars and dark dust dominate the visible structure, caught in a gravitational swirl of spiral arms. Open clusters of bright blue stars are sprinkled along these arms, while dark lanes of dense interstellar dust are visible between them.
