COSMIC MESSAGE
A Delta II rocket streaks into the early morning sky, launching NASA's Messenger spacecraft toward Mercury. This mission aims to be the first to orbit Mercury, using gravity assists from Earth and Venus flybys to adjust its trajectory. Messenger will make several close approaches before achieving orbit in 2011.
