COSMIC MESSAGE

The Small Magellanic Cloud is a dwarf irregular galaxy, a satellite of our own Milky Way. It spans about 15,000 light years and contains hundreds of millions of stars. Portuguese navigator Ferdinand Magellan named it after his crew studied the southern sky during the first circumnavigation of Earth.
