NGC 6888: The Crescent Nebula

NASA APOD · Joe Navara
COSMIC MESSAGE

The Crescent Nebula, NGC 6888, is about 25 light-years across. It was blown by winds from its central, massive star. This image, a collaboration of three astroimagers, used over 30 hours of narrow-band data to isolate light from hydrogen and oxygen atoms. The oxygen atoms create the blue-green hue that envelops the detailed folds and filaments of the cosmic bubble.
