COSMIC MESSAGE

This map shows over a million galaxies, detected by the Two Micron All Sky Survey, or 2MASS. Instead of being scattered randomly, they cluster into filaments and walls, with great voids in between. These structures are some of the largest in the universe, and we use them to understand how everything formed.
